According to the State Health Department (SHD) officials, lack of blood banks in the remote tribal areas had been remained as a hurdle to the doctors at the AHs and CHCs during emergencies. ``People had to rush to nearby district government hospitals or depend on private blood banks during emergencies,” said an official.

It was against this background that the State government had

cleared a proposal to establish blood banks with an estimated cost of Rs 19.98 crore in tribal areas.

The new blood banks would be coming at the AHs and CHCs in Nagarkurnool, Ghatkesar, Medak, Bodhan, Utnoor, Asifabad, and Godavari Khani, Narsampet, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, Bhongir, Kondapur and at the District Hospital, King Koti in the city.
