Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Sunday instructed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to expedite and complete the development and beautification works under progress at Begumpet graveyard.
The Mayor along with MLA, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, GHMC zonal commissioner, S.Srinivas Reddy, inspected the development works which were being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.2 crore. The graveyard is spread over five acres and the municipal corporation is providing amenities like bathrooms, toilets, parking, internal approach roads, avenue plantation etc.,
About 150
lorries of debris is cleared apart from 50 loads of wild growth and bushes from the work site, a press release said.
As part of development works, four platforms are to be built and there is a proposal to construct an electric crematorium at a later stage. Works pertaining to planting of avenue plantation, aromatic plants, laying internal roads, construction of bathrooms and toilets are already completed.
The Mayor instructed the officials to monitor the works regularly and to complete the balance works at the earliest, the press release added.
