Sounding the bugle for the prestigious electoral battle to take on the TRS in Telangana State in the ensuing 2019 elections, AICC President Rahul Gandhi on Monday tried to woo the women voters by asserting that their welfare and security can be possible only under the Congress regime in the state.

Addressing a vast gathering of women belonging to the DWACRA and other societies at the Classic Convention Centre near Shamshabad in the city, on his maiden visit to the state after taking the reins of the Congress lashed out at both the Modi Government at the Centre and the KCR Government in the state for utterly failing to protect the welfare and security of women. He assured that if the Congress is voted to power in Telangana, women empowerment and security would be the prime priority of the party.

Going hammer and tongs at both the central and state governments Rahul Gandhi said that women’s welfare and security had taken a back seat. While



both the governments were appeasing the big businessmen and industrialists by waiving their loans, the poor people including the farmers and women were completely being neglected. While big businessmen and industrialists were being provided financial assistance, the poor were being left on the lurch.

Rahul Gandhi accused the KCR government of working for the interest of the family welfare at the cost of the poor. He asserted that if the Congress is voted to power in the state, it would be by the first priority of the government to ensure the well being of the poor and downtrodden. He assured that the Congress regime would reintroduce the Abhaya Hastham programme for the welfare of the poor and he women.

Earlier speaking on the occasion Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev said that only under the Congress regime in Telangana Sate, their would bright future for the poor, downtrodden and women.
