Nalgonda: Police on Saturday arrested several BRS leaders in Nalgonda district ahead of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s visit.
The arrests began at midnight and continued till morning. Former municipal chairman of Nalgonda, Saidi Reddy, along with several other town unit leaders of the party, was arrested and shifted to the Nalgonda rural police station.
BRS Nalgonda mandal unit president Devi Venkat Reddy and
members of different PACS were also detained and shifted to the rural police station. Karim Pasha, former MPP of Kanagal, along with other leaders, was also among those arrested.
The arrests sparked outrage among BRS leaders who said the police action was reminiscent of the ‘Emergency’. The situation in Nalgonda district remained tense in the backdrop of the large scale arrests.
