The Dharani portal of the Telangana government is being used to browbeat hapless people into submission and forcing them to sell their lands to BRS leaders, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, he demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, "who presides over Pragathi Bhavan where most of such land deals take shape," must reveal the details of the number of complaints received with regard to land records and registration on the Dharani portal, how many of them have been attended to and how many of the problems have been resolved.
Kishan Reddy said people with genuine land registration issues were being forced to approach the courts for redressal. Once they do that, middlemen acting on behalf of BRS leaders swoop on the complainants and offer them a solution provided they sell their land as directed by the middlemen.
"Ten lakh Dharani portal-related applications are pending with the government, and the officials who are supposed to deal with them have no
clue how to go about it. It not certain if they even have the keys to use the portal to solve the problems reported by people," he said.
A very large number of land parcels have been placed under the prohibited category, forcing people to succumb to the BRS leaders and their middlemen, Kishan Reddy said. "Even the courts have said Dharani encourages brokers and middlemen," he pointed out.
"Once the BJP government comes to power, we will implement a reliable and effective land registration system in Telangana by adopting the best practices from the rest of the country. We will put an end to this loot of the common people by BRS leaders and the Kalvakuntla family," he said.
The BJP will take up the Dharani portal related issues, just as it has done with other issues of public importance. People are killing themselves on account of the problems they are facing because of the failure of the state government to solve Dharani portal problems, he said.
