BRS Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, who was arrested on Thursday morning, was granted bail after midnight following a day-long dramatic sequence of events.

He was arrested at his Kondapur residence around 10 am following a confrontation with the police at Banjara Hills police station on Wednesday.

Detained for most of the day, Kaushik Reddy was taken for medical examination at around 10.30 pm and was presented at the judge’s residence at midnight, where the judge rejected the remand and granted bail with a fine of Rs.5,000 and two sureties.

Speaking to the media after his release, the Huzurabad legislator condemned the arrest as illegal and vowed to continue questioning the government’s promises to the people of Huzurabad. He reiterated his commitment to standing for public

issues, asserting, “I will keep questioning till my last breath.”

Kaushik Reddy had visited the Banjara Hills police station on Wednesday to lodge a complaint about alleged tapping of his phone by the State government.

A dispute arose when he demanded that SHO KM Raghavendra stay to receive his complaint. Police later filed charges against Reddy, including obstruction of duty, unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation, and public nuisance.

On Thursday, the BRS MLA was arrested at his residence amid strong opposition from the main opposition. Several senior BRS Leaders including T Harish Rao and G Jagadish Reddy who went to meet him, also were arrested, triggering State-wide protests. The protests will continue on Friday as well.
