The Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) decided to boycott the orientation programme for MLAs and MLCs scheduled to commence on Wednesday, alleging the Speaker’s partisan behaviour. Party working president KT Rama Rao made a statement in this regard, urging the Speaker to act impartially.

In a statement, Rama Rao said the Speaker’s behaviour especially restriction of the BRS legislators from entering the Assembly on the first day of the session on Monday, was in

violation of their rights. “On the first day itself, we were prevented from entering the Assembly. The police were used to arrest us for protesting against the government’s failures,” he stated.

The BRS working president also questioned the Speaker’s inaction against the defected BRS MLAs and silencing opposition voices in previous sessions. “The Speaker has consistently acted in a partisan manner, denying us opportunities to raise critical issues,” he added.
