Telangana State Backward Classes Commission chairman B.S. Ramulu said that the Commission would soon submit its report to the State Government on backwardness of Muslim community.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Ramulu informed that various teams of BC Commission have visited all districts of Telangana to study the socio-economic and educational backwardness among Muslims in the State. He said on Thursday, field surveys were conducted by three teams in 12 mandals of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. He said that the Commission had also received thousands of representations when it held public
hearings.
He said that the Commission has observed that Muslims were extremely backward in many spheres of life. He said that the Commission would soon submit its report to the State Government which proposed to enhance the Muslim quota in jobs and education to 12%. He hoped that enhancement of reservation to 12% would help in ensuring educational and economic growth of Muslim community.
Ramulu thanked the officials of Revenue Department for providing required assistance to the Commission. He also clarified that the Commission has been working independently without any pressure.
