Burglars struck the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and decamped with valuables worth several lakhs.
Apart from his official residence at Praja Bhavan in Begumpet, the Deputy Chief Minister resides with his family in his house in Banjara Hills. He is currently on a foreign tour.
According to police sources, though it is unclear when the incident had occurred, the burglars decamped with cash, gold and silver ornaments and foreign currency. The family members who found the house burgled recently informed Bhatti who alerted the police.
The Banjara Hills police who booked a case took up investigation and also collected CLUES from the crime
spot. They alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kharagpur in West Bengal.
On Thursday, Kharagpur GRP officials caught two persons during regular checking after their movements looked suspiciously. The suspects were identified as Roshan Kumar Mandal and Uday Kumar Thakur both from Bihar, who confessed of their involvement in the burglary at Deputy Chief Minister’s residence.
Officials recovered cash of Rs 2.2 lakh, a 100 gram gold coin, silver items and foreign currency.
The suspects will be produced before a local court in Kharagpur and brought to Hyderabad on a prisoner’s transit warrant, as case has been a registered in Banjara Hills against them.
