Senior bureaucrat K. Arvind Kumar, who wielded a lot of power as municipal administration and urban development special chief secretary in the BRS regime, was on Sunday shunted to the disaster management department in a reshuffle of senior bureaucrats.
Arvind had also held the post of metropolitan commissioner of the HMDA, nodal agency for development and the issuer of building approvals mainly on the city outskirts. Interestingly, he had filed a defamation case against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy (then in the Opposition) for his observations on the Outer Ring Road toll contract.
Principal secretary Dana Kishore, HMWS&SB managing director, will now head the MA&UD department and hold additional charge of HMDA metropolitan commissioner. C. Sudarshan Reddy has been posted as HMWS&SB managing director.
Burra Venkatesham, an efficient officer who has been sidelined by the BRS government, was given important assignment of
education and will hold additional charge of collegiate and technical education.
Christina Z. Chongthu was posted as secretary, medical and health, and finance secretary T.K. Sridevi replaced her as commercial taxes commissioner.
A. Vani Prasad, principal secretary, transport, was posted as principal secretary to the environment and forests department. The government clubbed the transport and roads and buildings departments and appointed K.S. Sreenivasa Raju as its head. He had enjoyed a good position even during the BRS regime.
Rahul Bojja, secretary to then K. Chandrashekar Rao, was transferred to the general administration department and will continue to hold charge of the SC development department.
Vakati Karuna was appointed secretary, women and child welfare, while Nalgonda collector R.V. Karnan was transferred as director, medical, health and family welfare.
