In Hyderabad, all major political parties have intensified their election campaigning as only one week left for it during the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls to be held on 2nd February. Top leaders of various National and Regional parties are taking part in the campaigning. All major parties are holding road shows, live telecast shows and door-to-door campaigns by its top leaders.
Left parties formed an alliance-One Hyderabad along with Lok Satta and other small parties for the first time in corporation elections while BJP
and TDP continue their alliance also in the 150-ward GHMC polls. The MIM is contesting from 89 wards. The ruling Telangana Rastra Samithi and Congress are contesting alone. The elections to GHMC are being held two years after its due and for the first time after Telangana state formed in 2014. A total 1333 candidates are in the contest in 150 wards. About 74 lakh voters are going to exercise their franchise on February 2nd. The election authorities have deployed about one lakh police personnel and polling staff for conducting the election.
