The Central government on Sunday decided to send nine teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to carry out the relief works in the flood-hit Telangana. Union home minister Amit Shah reportedly took the decision after his junior minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar updated him about heavy rains in Telangana, especially in Khammam district.
Sanjay Kumar told the home minister that 110
villages in Khammam district are trapped in flood waters and about nine persons stranded on Prakashnagar hilltop, 68 members trapped in Ajmira Tanda hill and another 42 members on the top of their buildings in Khammam district. He also spoke with the NDRF officials and asked them to coordinate with officials in Telangana in taking up relief and rehabilitation works.
