Former minister Ch. Malla Reddy filed a petition before the High Court seeking to quash an FIR registered against him by the Shamirpet police for alleged cheating and violation of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. He is Accused No. 5 in the FIR.

He alleged that the complainant, Bishapathi Kethavath, was trying to defame him by claiming that he had forced seven farmers

to surrender their PT rights pertaining to 47 acre agricultural land in Keshavaram, Medchal district by payment of Rs 3 lakh each.

The case was listed on Monday before a single judge. As it came under the category of criminal cases against MPs and MLAs, the registry was directed to list the case before the special bench.
