Charminar bags national award

The Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will be presenting the award to GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore in New Delhi on October 2 as part of the fourth anniversary celebrations of Swachh Bharat Mission. Charminar was included in the Swachh Iconic Places in the second phase.

After being sidelined for many years, the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP) gained momentum after Telangana



government came to power and placed special emphasis on the project.

Works have been going on at a brisk pace. Already, granite pavement works from Charminar to Gulzar Houz and Charminar to Sardar Mahal have been completed. This apart, granite cobbler laying works in the Charminar bufferzone have also been done and majority of the works are nearing completion.
