Charminar will be closed on Saturday for visitors and the general public in view of Muharram on July 29, the Director-General, Archaeological Survey of India. said in a statement on Thursday.
"As per the request by the assistant commissioner of police, Charminar division, Hyderabad, the Centrally protected monument, Charminar, Hyderabad, will remain closed for
public viewing on 29-07-2023 and also the online sale of tickets will not be functional," according to the statement.
Thousands of Shia Muslims are to take part in the mourning procession, a 400-year-old tradition, to mark the martyrdom of Imam Hussain on Saturday. The procession will go past the monument.
