Hyderabad: As part of the Union government’s Swachh Iconic Places Project, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has decided to provide a budget of Rs.8.19 crore for developmental and beautification works at Charminar.
The Union government has identified prominent historical tourist spots across the country as iconic places and assigned each one to different central government companies for taking up the responsibility of their development and beautification. The task of beautification of Hyderabad’s iconic landmark, Charminar, was given to NTPC.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy had recently visited New Delhi and during discussions with Central government teams and NTPC officials, explained various aspects involving Charminar
beautification works.
Following this, the NTPC has communicated to the GHMC Commissioner here informing the decision to provide Rs.8.19 crore under the Iconic Places Project for Charminar and to take up beautification works, Swachh campaigns, improving basic amenities and deploying battery-operated vehicles among others.
NTPC to provide Rs.8.19 crore for Charminar beautification:
* Battery-operated vehicles: Rs.251 lakhs
* Swachh Auto Tippers for carting garbage: Rs. 42.50 lakhs
* Steel garbage bins: Rs.9 lakhs
* Decorative and halogen lighting for arches: Rs.100 lakhs
* Drinking water ATM kiosks: Rs.16 lakhs
* Construction of public utilities, toilets: Rs.200 lakhs
* Mechanical sweeping and litter picking machines: Rs.200 lakhs
