The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has asked voters to check their names in the electoral rolls prepared as on February 22, 2019. The voters, whose names are still missing or have not enrolled in the electoral rolls yet, can enrol their names by submitting Form 6 till March 15.

The GHMC commissioner and district election officer (DEO), Dana Kishore, on Monday said election authorities have taken up massive exercise for the past two months and verified about eight lakh entries with house-to-house verification in the city, and included about 24,000 voters afresh. While some voters names have been revived, some names were included by taking Form 6 from them.

Dana Kishore said: “All the voters who have enrolled their names before March 15 will be verified and included in the electoral rolls to be published on March 26. They get a chance to cast their vote in the Lok Sabha

elections.”

He said text messages to about 10.25 lakh voters (from property tax data) have been sent asking them to verify their names in the electoral rolls. Special campaigns have already been taken up at all polling booths for six days even during evenings from 4 pm to 7 pm for the benefit of employed people. Voters can verify their names through multiple sources such as election commission and GHMC websites, phone numbers, and also by visiting municipal offices,” Dana Kishore said.

He said the election commission is committed to give opportunity to every genuine voter to cast vote in the election, and it has been making efforts in that direction. On the directions of Election Commission of India (ECI), de novo verification of National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme and Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls was done in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
