Chief Secretary SK Joshi yesterday directed the officials concerned to prepare an action plan for Old City development as per the directive of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He held a high level review meeting at Secretariat here with officials and asked them to come up with a perfect action plan to provide improved amenities in the old city.
Joshi asked to take up measures on permanent basis to construct new reservoirs to cater to drinking water needs of people and replace old pipelines with new ones and steps for system strengthening. He said that a notification was issued to appoint a consultant to prepare Detailed Project Report (DPR) on drinking water supply in the old city every day.
The officials informed that they are supplying 124 MGD drinking waters every day in the old city and awaiting permission for a master plan prepared for sewerage lines in Karwan, Nampally segments.
The officials said that Rs 400 cr spent for south Musi sewerage works and completed 5 km works,
completing 4 km works and made proposals for one kilometer out of 10.89 km nalas expansion for storm water. The Chief Secretary asked the officials to expedite the works. He also asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply and drinking water supply and other amenities. Joshi also instructed to build sub stations and make use of transformers in adequate numbers for uninterrupted power supply.
Take immediate steps for land acquisition through inspection at Dabirpura, Darul Shifa, Miralam, Hafis baba Nagar, Chandrayana Gutta areas. Prepare a plan of action for the same and steps for sub stations at Falak Numa, Toli Chowki, Chatrinaka, Malakpet and Karwan areas.
He also directed the officials to fill up teachers on reservation basis in Urdu medium schools and provide power supply in all schools before they opened. To provide improved health facilities in the old city it was decided to open up Basthi Dawakhanas in 13 places and set up them in four places so far.
