Residents of Kondapur woke up on Tuesday to the gory sight of two sacks — soaked in blood — stuffed with chopped body parts of a woman on the roadside.
The woman, who is yet to be identified and around 25-30 years old, was eight-months pregnant. The incident came to light around 8 am after Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) workers noticed blood dripping from the sacks. At first, they assumed that the sacks contained animal flesh — which is common in the area.
But, the workers realised that the bags contained human body parts when they opened them, following which they informed their seniors, who in turn alerted the police,
Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police N Shyam Prasad Rao said.
A team headed by Gachibowli Inspector M Gangadhar reached the spot and found that the body was of a woman. “The head and body were in one sack, while the limbs and one arm were in the other,” Rao said.
The body parts were sent to Osmania General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination after the CLUES team and dog squad collected evidence from the spot. Police said the woman was wearing salwar kameez, bangles, earrings and toe rings. “The pregnancy indicates that the murder might have taken place after a dispute, and that to three days ago,” he said.
