Civil Supplies Department inaugurated its Command and Control Centre on Tuesday,attempts to plug loopholes and strengthen existing system of Public Distribution System (PDS) and prevent diversion of rice,
The Command Control is equipped with latest technology and has been designed to watch every movement of vehicles involved moving stocks from godowns to Mandal Level Stock (MLS) points and rice stocks that are transported from MLS points to Fair Price Shops (FPS) or ration shops.
Finance Minister Etela Rajender inaugurated the Command and Control Centre, where video walls with 210 inches width, 72 inches length has been installed, which is being considered as one of the largest video wall in the State.
From the Command and Control Centre one can watch movement of vehicles utilised for transportation of PDS rice till the stocks reaches the ration shops, Telangana Commissioner of Civil Supplies CV Anand said adding that offices of various Joint Collectors
in the State would also be equipped to track the operations.
The feed from CCTV Cameras, GPS devices attached to transport vehicles, biometric system at ration shops and all other operations involved in transport of stock could be tracked from the Command Control System, he said.The Command Centre has the capability to monitor the movement of 1,383 vehicles including 46 kerosene tankers (installed with GPS system) in real time that are involved in transportation of essential commodities to ration shops.
As part of introducing digitisation and cashless transactions, the department will soon introduce ePOS and biometric AePS in 17,500 fair price shops across Telangana.
Chief Secretary SP Singh said that technology was the best way to plug leaks and check the practice of diverting rice and other essential commodities before they reach the ration shops in districts. “These measures will result in lot of savings for the exchequer,” he said.
