The State Civil Supplies Department will launch State-level Command Control Centre on its premises here on Tuesday.
“This step is being taken to plug loopholes in the existing system and to strengthen the system in order to avoid diversion of PDS rice and other essential commodities by utilising the latest technology,” Civil Supplies Commissioner CV Anand said here on Monday.
“The Command Control Centre is equipped with the latest technology and a person sitting in the centre can track vehicle movements till the stocks reach the ration
shops from warehouses,” he said.The department will install surveillance and GPS devices in all the Stage I and II transport vehicles apart from biometric systems in all fair price shops. So far, the department has fixed GPS devices in 1,337 transport vehicles and 46 GPS devices in kerosene tankers.
“We have already installed CCTV cameras at all godowns in Hyderabad and the same measure will be extended across the State soon,” Anand said, adding that the State Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender would launch the Command Control Centre.
