Congress Legislative Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday inspected the ongoing works of Amaravati-Nagpur and Khammam-Devarapalli national highway at Vandanam-Kodamuru, where farmers complained that their land had been taken over for a pittance.
The farmers brought several issues to the CLP leader's notice on government officers forcibly taken away their lands for the national highway construction and after paying a small amount. The government used the police to forcibly
take their land for the national highway, the farmers told Bhatti. The farmers requested the CLP leader to bring pressure on the government to provide more financial assistance for farmers who gave away their agricultural land.
The CLP leader spoke to project director Durga Prasad over telephone and asked to pay more compensation for farmers. Vikramarka also promised the farmers he would take measures to solve the farmers' issues.
