The State government on Monday sanctioned Rs 41.70 crore to take up various emergency works in the Old City, hours after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao assured Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi that funds would be released from the Special Development Fund (SDF) for the purpose.

Responding swiftly to Owaisi’s appeal for release of funds, the Chief Minister directed the Planning Department to sanction the amount for improving water supply and sewerage lines in eight Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad district. The Planning Department issued a Government Order sanctioning the amount. These funds will be utilized for taking up 626 works spread over the eight Assembly segments of Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Goshamahal, Karwan, Malakpet, Nampally and Yakutpura.

At the review meeting where these decisions were taken at the request of Hyderabad MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, the CM also directed officials to develop Charminar and its surrounding areas on the lines of the Golden Temple in Amritsar so that every tourist visiting Hyderabad is attracted to pay a visit to the historic monument.



Apart from these, the Telangana government is to construct a Hyderabad International Islamic Cultural Convention Centre in 10 acres of land in Kokapet with international standards.

An exclusive industrial estate and IT corridor for Muslims in the state, 100% subsidy for units worth up to ` 2.5 lakh started by self employed minority youth and `41.7 crore to repair all drinking water pipelines in eight assembly constituencies in Old City were among the measures announced by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Monday .

The CM made it clear that minorities' development and welfare is among the top priorities of his government. KCR said minorities will be given 10% quota in the double bedroom houses being constructed by the state. Necessary measures will also be taken to strengthen the Minority Development Corporation, Urdu Academy and Wakf Board, he added. 

Interestingly , within 2 hours after the meeting, a government order was issued releasing ` 41.7 crore related to water works in 8 assembly constituencies of Old City .
