Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao announced a 'May Day gift' to all sanitation workers on Monday, enhancing their monthly wages by Rs 1,000 with immediate effect. The decision will benefit 1,06,474 sanitation workers.
Apart from the the GHMC and the HMWS&SB, all sanitation workers working in municipal corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats will receive the enhanced pay. The CM asserted that the state government was committed to the welfare and development of sanitation workers by recognising their efforts and sacrifices since the formation of the Telangana state with a slogan of 'Safai Anna Niku Salaam Anna'.
The government is committed to the welfare of every single worker who works hard in the state. The government is aware of the hardships of the workers and
increased their salaries from time to time and stood by them, he stated.
The government has also decided to increase the salaries of the TSRTC workers and the finance department has been directed to take appropriate measures in this regard.
The efforts of the sanitation workers were commendable in achieving qualitative development of villages and towns in Telangana, he stated. The CM also praised the workers for winning numerous awards by villages and municipalities from Telangana at national and international level. A big transformation took place in the development of villages and towns in Telangana since 2014. The difference between the past and present conditions in the villages and towns were clearly visible at ground level, he said.
