CM KCR directs the TRS MPs to raise issues of the State and protest both within Parliament as well as outside

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, vexed by the Centre’s step-motherly treatment to the State for the past seven years, has decided to take the Union government head-on over implementation of the just demands of the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is learnt to have directed the TRS MPs to leave no stone unturned and collaborate with other Opposition parties in exposing the Centre’s failure in delivering on its promises. The party MPs will stage protests both within and outside Parliament when it meets from September 14.

The Chief Minister, who held a meeting with the TRS Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday, reportedly asked them not to compromise on any aspect till the Centre agrees to fulfill the long-pending demands of the State. He wanted them to raise issues of the State and protest both within Parliament as well as outside.

“For the past seven years, the Centre has left the State in a limbo. The Chief Minister is vexed with writing letters to the Centre repeatedly over the last seven years. This time, the TRS MPs will fight for the just needs of the State,” TRS Lok Sabha leader Nama Nageshwar Rao told mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters here after the TRS Parliamentary Party meeting.

TRS Parliamentary Party leader K Keshava Rao said there was no end to the Centre making false promises and going back on them time and again. He said the Centre was neither releasing funds to the State as mandated in the Constitution nor was it fulfilling its promises. He pointed out that the



Centre was not even making any effort to intervene and resolve the Krishna River water dispute. “There is no urea supply despite 24 per cent increase in cultivation area. Efforts are being made to control the States by bringing the new Electricity Bill which will be strongly opposed by the State,” he said.

Keshava Rao said he had never seen such a fraudulent government at the Centre which consistently kept lying and did not honour its promises. He pointed out that neither were the National Highways expanded nor were Navodaya Schools sanctioned in the 22 districts. “The Union government has violated the GST Act and did not compensate for the losses incurred by the State citing the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, the Centre is trying to even avoid payment of the State’s share in GST. The Centre owes Telangana about Rs 10,000 crore,” he said, adding that proposals for sanction of airstrips and funds for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal were pending.

Nama Nageshwar Rao said both the Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana State should decide whether they will fight against the injustice meted out to the State by the Centre. He suggested that they raise their voices in New Delhi rather than trying to gain political mileage in the State. “The Central government is trying to fix electricity meters in agriculture lands using the new Electricity Act. Will the BJP MPs support this move? They must clarify on their stand. Their incompetence has been exposed as they have not been able to get at least Navodaya Schools sanctioned to the State,” he added.
