Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday said that a Chief Minister has to be the chief servant of his people, and that it was by the grace of God that he was able to serve the people.
Speaking after flagging off the fourth batch of State Haj pilgrims at the Haj House Nampally, the Chief Minister urged the pilgrims to pray for the peace, development and welfare of the State during their holy journey and stay at Mecca and Madina.
In his 12-minute speech, which was delivered in Urdu, Rao said the erstwhile Hyderabad state was the richest state in the world. The Nizam was known for his generosity, and had gifted six tonnes of gold to the then government when the country was financially bankrupt during the war with China in
1964.
Stating that though Telangana was a new State, it was already leading the country in terms of revenue generation, the Chief Minister said his government was committed to the welfare of minorities. “We opened 200 residential schools for the community to promote education among them and I am happy that we were receiving good response from these schools,” he said.
