TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao slammed the BJP-led union government for forcing the banks to write off Rs 11 lakh crore of people’s money from the books for the benefit of their corporate friends, but refusing to spend a few thousand crores of rupees for the benefit of farmers.

He ridiculed the statements of the BJP Telangana leaders of conducting raids by Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation officials, terming them as empty threats. “Only criminals will be afraid of such threats. Why should I be afraid of? Do they think that they can threaten us with such statements?” he questioned.

Responding to a volley of questions after the TRS party meeting held at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday, the Chief Minister said the government will fill all the 80,000 vacant government posts in the State.

He allayed fears of closure of government schools due to rationalisation which he meant was to improve adequate facilities including teachers on all subjects to improve quality of education.

Chandrashekhar Rao rubbished the speculations over a gap between him and pontiff Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. When asked about rumours about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plans to enter the State politics, he stated that anyone was entitled to contest the elections from anywhere in a democratic country like

India. He termed the Padayatras as an outdated trend.

Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao ruled out early elections in Telangana as was done during his first tenure in 2018. He was also confident of the TRS winning around 95-105 seats in the next elections to the State Assembly.

Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting with TRS elected representatives and party functionaries at Telangana Bhavan here, Chandrasekhar Rao stated that he would not go for early polls this time under any circumstance as “there was no need for it.”

He said during the previous term, there was need for continuity of governance as most of the works taken up by the TRS government were not fully completed. However, there was no such need this time as all major projects and programmes have been completed except for projects such as Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme.

Citing a recent survey, the TRS President said a study was conducted by three different organisations in 30 Assembly constituencies. The reports indicated that the TRS would win 29 seats comfortably and would lose one seat with a margin of 0.3 per cent votes which roughly transforms into four seats out of 119 seats in the State Assembly. “We won 63 seats in first term, 88 in second term and in next elections, it would be 95-100 seats, he said.
