Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Monday inspected Sri Raja Rajeshwara (SRR) or Mid Manair reservoir which is brimming to its full capacity for the first time, with water pumped from Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. He offered prayers to River Godavari and performed ‘Jala Harathi’ to the backwaters of the reservoir at Thangellapalli bridge and later at the project site in Boinpally mandal.
The Chief Minister examined the equipment and gates at SRR reservoir during his visit. He reviewed the progress of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project works about the lifting of waters from Asia’s biggest surge pool in Thippapur to the Ananthasagar and later to Mallannasagar. He asked the officials to expedite the
works.
Earlier in the day, Chandrashekhar Rao travelled by road in a bus from Hyderabad to Vemulawada along with his family. He visited Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple at Vemulawada where the priests welcomed him with ‘Poorna Kumbham’ and chanting of vedic hymns. After performing puja at the temple, he discussed temple development works with the officials and the priests.
Along with their respective families, Ministers KT Rama Rao, Eetala Rajender, A Indra Karan Reddy, and Gangula Kamalakar, Telangana State Planning Board vice chairman B Vinod Kumar, and Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada.
