Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday made a quick trip to Bengaluru to personally congratulate JD(S) Chief Ministerial candidate HD Kumaraswamy ahead of the latter’s swearing-in ceremony as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday. He also met former Prime Minister and JD(S) president HD Deve Gowda and congratulated him on the occasion of JD(S) forming the government in Karnataka.

Chandrashekhar Rao was invited for the swearing-in ceremony of Kumaraswamy scheduled to be held on Wednesday. However, he decided to visit Bengaluru on Tuesday itself due to his busy schedule on Wednesday.

Rao flew down to Bengaluru by a special flight along with an entourage Telangana State Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chari, Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, C Laxma Reddy, MPs K Keshava Rao, B Vinod, J Santhosh Kumar, Mission Bhagiratha

Vice-Chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy and Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation Chairman S Subhash Reddy.

Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy welcomed Chandrashekhar Rao on his arrival at the former’s residence. Chandrashekhar Rao felicitated Kumaraswamy for emerging victorious in the recent Karnataka polls and forming the government. They exchanged pleasantries following which important leaders from both the parties were introduced to the other party chiefs. Later, Chandrashekhar Rao returned to Hyderabad in the evening.

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy acknowledged that running the Congress-JD(S) coalition government over the next five years will be a ‘big challenge’ for him. “This is a big challenge in my life. I’m not expecting that I will be able to fulfil my responsibilities as Chief Minister easily,” Kumaraswamy said.
