CM KCR return to Hyderabad yesterday

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao returned to Hyderabad on Tuesday evening after a five-day visit to Delhi to pursue pending issues pertaining to the State with the Centre. He had a series of meetings with Union Ministers on various issues and is learnt to have got assurances in favour of the State.

The Chief Minister went to Delhi immediately after attending the first day’s session of Monsoon session of the State Assembly as part of his efforts to get pending funds from the Centre as well as find solutions to other issues plaguing the State. This was his second visit to the national capital this month.

Chandrashekhar Rao called on Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and took up the State’s concerns over implementation of the gazette notification bringing all irrigation projects in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under the River Management Boards of Godavari and Krishna Rivers. 

He appealed to the Centre to implement the gazette notification only after finalising the water share between both the Telugu States. He also raised objections to Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme in Andhra Pradesh as well as



asked for expediting permissions to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in Telangana.

On Sunday, the Chief Minister participated in the meeting convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah with the Chief Ministers of States affected by Left Wing Extremism. He made a presentation on the efforts made by Telangana to curb the Maoist menace in the State, by extending the government programmes to the remote areas and ensuring that the benefits reach the needy. Though he was scheduled to return to Hyderabad on the same evening, he stayed put in Delhi. To the surprise of many, he had a one-to-one meeting with Amit Shah for more than an hour on the same evening.

He also met Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal twice, on Sunday as well as Monday, requesting him to revise paddy procurement to nearly 80 lakh tonnes from the proposed 60 lakh tonnes for the Vaanakalam (Kharif) season 2021-22. He is also learnt to have urged for enhancing procurement of parboiled rice upto 80-90 per cent of total rice procured by the Centre for the Yasangi (Rabi) 2020-21.
