Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday said that the Congress, if elected to power, would end all welfare schemes and appealed to the public to "think wisely if you want welfare schemes to continue", in a campaign for Errabelli Dayakar Rao in Thorrur town of Palakurthy Assembly segment in Jangaon.
Addressing a massive public rally, he said: "TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy was criticising the BRS for supplying 24 hours of power. But, he had suggested that three hours of power supply was enough for the farming sector and asked the farmers to use 10 HP motors (to decrease power supply). There are around 33 lakhs agricultural motors used by farmers, who mostly have 3 HP or 5 HP motors. Who is going to buy them 10 HP motors?"
He said that 10 years ago, people from Palakurthy had to migrate in search of livelihood, which was ended by the BRS government, as evidenced by people from other regions currently moving to Palakurthy and earning a living by undertaking crop cultivation.
"During the separate Telangana movement, I came to Palakurthy many times. Several weeds were seen growing in the SRSP canal, without any water. People never dreamt of water flowing through the canal, but under the rule of the BRS government, by completing the Devadula project, water was supplied from Kaleshwaram to Palakurthy," he said.
"People started calling Dayakar Rao ‘Check-Dam Rao’ since he constructed several check dams and supplied water for irrigating over 1.3 lakh acres in the Palakurthy constituency," Rao said.
The Chief Minister said that during the Congress regime in erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh, tribals faced problems
due to a lack of administrative support. He said that the BRS transformed Thandas into panchayats and handed over power to them.
"After coming to power, the BRS government will implement Girijan Bandhu and uplift the ST community. We will also sanction 100 houses to each village and distribute them to the shelter-less," he said.
Later in the day, speaking at a public meeting in Haliya of Nagarjunasagar, Rao alleged that during the reign of Jana Reddy as the R&B minister, he did not take up any developmental work besides laying new roads. If people elect him, the constituency will remain the same, without any development, Rao said.
"If people elect the BRS candidate Nomula Bhagat, who is the son of Communist leader Narsaiah, then justice will be done to all sections of people along with enormous development in the constituency," Rao said.
Addressing a Praja Ashirwada Sabha, held under the leadership of Manchireddy Kishan Reddy in Ibrahimpatnam of Rangareddy district, Rao highlighted how the BRS candidate resolved farmers’ woes.
"Many farmers are dependent on power supply to run motors. When the lake in Ibrahimpatnam dried up, Kishan Reddy took initiative for filling the lake with Hyderabad metro water and also cleaned the 36-metre channel for free flow of water into the lake. Because of Kishna Reddy, the lake is now overflowing with water," he said.
Rao also promised to take the initiative in supplying water from the Krishna River to Rangareddy, Mahbubnagar and Vikarabad districts, including Maheshwaram and Ibrahimpatnam constituencies.
