Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will participate in a dinner on December 22 organised by the government ahead of Christmas at the Nizam College grounds. From Thursday, clothes will be distributed to two lakh Christians in the state, but in Hyderabad, distribution will begin from Saturday because of the Telugu Conference. An order in this regard were issued by the CM on Wednesday.
The scheme was started by Telangana government in 2015. During an official review, the CM stressed on the importance of sharing on the
eve of Christmas. All activities associated with the implementation of the scheme will be looked after by the department of minority welfare.
Arrangements to distribute clothes at 190 locations are underway. This will be followed by dinners at hundreds of churches in Hyderabad and 95 Assembly constituencies across the state. On December 18, on behalf of the government, a dinner will be organised in all state churches. The state government is expected to spend 15 crore on the scheme.
