Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will launch the new fleet of State Road Transport Corporation buses, which includes mini AC buses ‘Vajra’ and mini non-AC ‘Palle Velugu’ buses, apart from Super Luxury, Express, Rajadhani and Garuda Plus buses at Pragati Bhavan here on Thursday.
The corporation is introducing the Vajra buses as part of its effort to make air-condition travel affordable. The 21-seater T-32 BS-IV mini-buses, whose bodies were built by the Mumbai-based MG Group, are a combination of various state-of-the-art facilities, including GPS, Closed
Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), LCD television, high speed Wi-Fi and mobile charging points for every seat. The buses being equipped with GPS, commuters can live track their location using a mobile app, according to GV Ramana Rao, Managing Director, TSRTC.
All the other buses will be equipped with ticket vending machines and drivers have to issue the ticket. Initially, the corporation will run 30 AC-mini buses to Warangal and 18 buses to Nizamabad from Hyderabad. “We have decided to charge Rs 300 for Warangal and Rs 350 for Nizamabad,” an official said.
