CM KCR to meet Stalin today

Tue 14 Dec 2021, 12:24:28
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will meet his Tamil Nadu counterpart MK Stalin in Chennai on Tuesday. The meeting gains significance in the wake of the TRS party’s latest decision to join hands with like-minded forces to evict the BJP-led Union government opposing its anti-farmer policies.

They are expected to meet at Stalin’s residence in Alwarpet at around 4-5 pm to discuss alliance of like-minded political parties, Centre’s intervention in States’ issues, and farmers issues among others in this regard.

It may be recalled that Stalin wrote to Chandrashekhar Rao and other counterparts of non-BJP-ruled States in October this year, asking for their cooperation in opposing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test and restoring ‘the primacy of States’ in education. The TRS has been opposing certain decisions of the Centre which were detrimental to the federal system of the country and took the warpath over the Union government’s refusal to purchase paddy from the State.

Meanwhile, Chandrashekhar Rao along with his family left from Begumpet airport on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu in a special flight. He was accompanied by his wife Shobha, his son and IT Minister KT Rama Rao, daughter-in-law Shailima,

grandchildren Himanshu and Alekhya, Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar and other family members.

On Monday, the Chief Minister along with his family members visited Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Tiruchirappalli and had darshan of the presiding deity. He was received by Tamil Nadu Minister Arun Nehru, Tiruchirappalli district collector Sivarasu and others. The temple priests welcomed him ‘Poorna Kumbham’ amid chanting of Vedic hymns even as the temple elephant Andal blessed the Chief Minister and his family members. Later, he performed special puja at the temple.

Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, Chandrashekhar Rao appreciated the temple management for maintaining the temple well and expressed his extreme happiness over darshan at the temple. This would his second visit to Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple, but first visit to Tamil Nadu after the DMK government has been formed.

Later, the Chief Minister and his family returned to Chennai for the night halt. He is scheduled to visit Thiruttani on Tuesday for darshan of Lord Murugan and return to Chennai, following which he would meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. He is expected to return to Hyderabad after the meeting.
