Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will leave for Delhi, by a special flight on Wednesday. He will be accompanied by his wife Shobha, a few Cabinet Ministers and other officials.
Sources said the Chief Minister is likely to meet union Minister for Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal to address the ongoing row over paddy procurement. If possible, he might also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue.
Both the Centre and the State governments are at loggerheads over the paddy
procurement, with the Centre insisting on supply of raw rice even as the State arguing that the Centre procure paddy as per the established norms and get it converted into raw rice or parboiled rice as per its needs.
The Delhi visit also gains significance in the wake of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee calling the leaders of all the non-BJP political parties for a meeting. It is learnt that the Chief Minister’s wife Shobha will also undergo a health checkup at AIIMS.
