CM KCR urges Parrikar to defer postponement of road closure in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has requested Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to instruct the Army authorities in the Secunderabad Cantonment area to postpone the proposed closure of GOUGH Road for the general public till an alternative road is completed.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Parrikar on Thursday, the CM stated that the civilian population residing in several localities in the thickly-populated Sainikpuri, A.S. Rao Nagar, ECIL and areas surrounding the Cantonment were facing severe



hardships with the imposition of restrictions by the authorities of AOC on commuting by that road. Seeking Mr. Parrikar’s intervention in the matter.

Mr. Rao pointed out that a decision had been taken by AOC authorities recently for closure of the GOUGH Road even as the matter was being taken up at the level of local AOC authorities and the Union Ministry.
