Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urged people to strictly follow lockdown restrictions for the greater good and cooperate with the State government to put an end to COVID-19. He reiterated that the State government was taking all measures for the safety of people and slowdown the spreading of the epidemic.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Chief Minister said the government was not willing to take any risks and hence, was extending the lockdown till May 7. “There will be no relaxations except for emergency cases or services. The police will implement the measures in a strict manner and have already booked cases against violators as well as seized over 50,000 vehicles,” he said.
He reiterated that lockdown was the only solution to contain spreading of the epidemic. He asserted that curfew was lifted for long hours during the day, to avoid crowds at shops and markets. “People need not panic about
containment zones as only 80,000 people are living in each zone. We are supplying essential commodities to their doorsteps,” he said.
He suggested people to contact ‘Dial 100’ or local officials or elected representatives, if any help was required.
While appealing to migrant labourers to stay put in the State, Rao advised people planning to travel to the State, to avoid the same. While the Centre was planning to operate domestic flights, he made it clear that no flight would be allowed to operate from Hyderabad till May 7 or until the State government takes a decision in this regard.
He denied any plans to conduct an all-party meeting in the State and rubbished allegations by the Opposition leaders. He reiterated that no permissions would be given to private sector for conducting tests or treating COVID-19 patients.
