Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said it was time to bring closure to the issue of podu cultivation by tribals and claims of ownership of forest land by people.
Speaking in the State Assembly on the new Municipal Act, he said the government wanted to bring legitimate land owners under the Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, apart from finding a one-time resolution to these land issues. “I will go to every district and hold meetings with the claimants, whether under RoFR or other laws, and bring closure to this issue,” he said.
He also said
tree plantation was an activity in which everyone in the State should participate in and take responsibility for the protection of all planted saplings. The government made tough provisions in the Panchayat Raj and Municipalities Acts to make sarpanches, village secretaries, ward members and civil officials of every ward responsible for ensuring 85 per cent survival rate of plants.
If they fail to do so, sarpanches, village secretaries, ward members and civic officials could mose their jobs, eh said.
