“Assign the administrative responsibilities to the Professors, who are teaching unimportant courses. The universities should not be converted into rehabilitation centers for some professors,” Revanth Reddy said during a meeting with the Vice Chancellors here on Friday.

The Chief Minister wanted the Vice Chancellors of all universities to hold a meeting and discuss the common problems being faced by universities with State Government Advisor K Kesava Rao and submit a report to the government on the steps to be taken.

This was after the Vice Chancellors informed about the problems, especially the

shortage of professors, buildings and other facilities in the institutions.

During the meeting, he said that the State government was ready to allocate necessary funds for the improvement of education standards in the universities.

The Chief Minister asked the authorities to introduce market-driven courses aimed at providing a bright future to the students and help them secure lucrative jobs.

He stressed that the State-owned universities should develop an ecosystem where the students from rural backgrounds with limited financial resources pursue quality education and make a bright future.

Students from affluent families are joining the private universities by choosing courses, which are in high demand in the market, the Chief Minister said, adding that the poor students should also get such quality education in the government universities.
