CM Revanth's trip to Davos Concludes

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday ended his Davos visit with the promise of an investment of `1,500 crore by the Tata Group, to set up advanced skilling centres in 50 government it is and deploy master trainers for handholding. 

In all, investment agreements worth over `40,000 crore were signed by the Telangana government at the World Economic Forum annual event. On the day, Revanth Reddy met Tata Group chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Surgical Instruments Group Holdings (SIGH) managing director Gouri Sridhara and Uber's leadership team, while IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu held meetings with leadership teams of o9 Solutions, Qcentrio and Systra Group.

Following the meetings, Surgical Instruments Group Holdings announced an investment of `231.5 crore for setting up a healthcare device manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. o9 Solutions announced to launch of a specialised supply chain skills academy, in partnership with the Telangana government. Qcentrio, a prominent IT development and services provider, announced to expand operations in Hyderabad and create 1,000 jobs.

Systra Group announced plans to set up a 1,000-member Systra Digital Centre (SDC) in Hyderabad for digital design and construction project management. Uber announced plans to expand operations in Telangana into the realms of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and create jobs for 1,000 skilled engineers. It also announced the launching of two innovative services, Uber Green and Uber Shuttle, in Hyderabad.

The Uber Green will offer zero-emission vehicles for rides, as part of Uber’s



sustainable mobility initiative, while the Uber Shuttle will provide premium and efficient rides in high-capacity vehicles. In the meeting, Tata Group informed the Chief Minister that TCS had large plans for Hyderabad and will continue to grow over the next few years. Tata Advanced Systems Limited has successfully grounded multiple joint ventures in leading global defence and aerospace companies like Boeing, Sikorsky, GE, and Lockheed Martin and is committed to expanding further in this strategic sector, the Group said. “Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) is also partnering with the State government to upgrade and transform government ITIs as advanced technology centres to impart long-term and short-term courses in industry 4.0 trades and bridge the skill gap,” it said, adding: 

“Tata Group is expanding its Air India fleet and has plans to increase both domestic and international connections from Hyderabad and make Hyderabad an important transit hub.” Revanth Reddy said, “Tata Group is a vital partner and key contributor to the state’s economic growth. Our government is committed to facilitating Tata Group’s investments in different sectors. We are happy to partner with TTL to establish advanced tech centres in government ITIs and welcome TTL to join the initiative to set up dedicated skill universities in Telangana”. 

Natarajan Chandrasekaran said: “Telangana is a strategically important location for the Tata Group. As a group, we intend to expand in Telangana as much as possible and we look forward to working cooperatively with the new government.”
