Standup comedian Daniel Fernandes has cancelled his upcoming show in Hyderabad, citing safety concerns following the threat issued by Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh after the former made a joke about the Jain community in his previous show.

Fernandes announced the decision in a video message, stating, "Nobody is ready to guarantee the safety of my audience, crew, and myself."

The cancelled show was a part of his comedy special tour "Do you know who I am?"

"We had to reschedule tonight's shows in Hyderabad because of the unrest caused by my last video.

The video that has offended people has been taken down, and I posted an apology today. However, we are still receiving calls, messages and emails threatening us with violence and vandalism," he said in a video posted on his Instagram page.

T Raja Singh, in a video, said that if Fernandes did not cancel the show, "our workers will come there and thrash you". Singh took offence to Fernandes' comments about Jains from Delhi allegedly dressing as Muslims to buy goats during Eid.

Known for his outspoken views, Singh also called on the authorities to prevent the show from happening.
