Comedian Ghulam Subhani, best-known for his role in the 1970s drama ‘Dedh Mathwale’, succumbed to cancer on Friday at a private hospital in the city. A close friend of his and partner in comedy shows, Hamid Kamal, confirmed the development.
“He passed away in a hospital. Subhani was not keeping well due to cancer and age-related issues,” Mr Kamal informed. Subhani appeared in several theatre dramas and Hyderabadi films along with his partner and best friend Hamid
Kamal. Both were known to be the best partners for each other in performing in comedy shows. Subhani’s last stage appearance was in a programme in March 2019 called “Subhani night” at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad.
Subhani was always quite popular for his comic roles. Some of his best performances are on YouTube. He had also recorded videos for spreading awareness in the society on various issues through his works.
