In Telangana, an illegal refund of GST to the tune of 25 crore 65 lakh rupees has been unearthed by the commercial taxes department, in Hyderabad. One person has been arrested and the Special Judge for Economic Offences Court, Nampally, has remanded him for judicial custody for 14 days. Commissioner of Commercial Taxes of the state, T K Sreedevi informed this in Hyderabad yesterday.
An official release stated that it was noticed during a desk audit that certain persons
had floated 3 firms with the intention to take GST refund illegally and taken GST refund to the tune of 25 crore 65 lakh rupees. During an inspection and house search on one of the directors, Rajesh Guptha the authorities found certain incriminating material and the accused revealed that they had a GST refund of 25.65 crore rupees fraudulently, which is a cognizable and non-bailable offence under the GST Act. Further investigation is underway.
