BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar launched a broadside at the Congress government, for betraying farmers and failing to safeguard students in welfare schools. He said the Congress government is exploiting farmers at Integrated Purchase Centers (IKP), where officials are reportedly under-weighing paddy by four kg per
quintal.
“For about 30 quintals of yield per acre, farmers are losing Rs 3,500 due to under-weighing, and an additional Rs 46 per quintal is being charged towards labour charges,” he said. As a result, he stated that farmers are losing a total Rs 4,880 per acre whenever they sell their crop to the State government.
