The Congress leaders, who have been staging protests on issues concerning people to corner the TRS government in the State for the past few months, on Monday staged a dharna in front of the state Assembly. They demanded the Assembly session to be convened with immediate effect to discuss various issues including the impact of demonetisation of high-value currency notes on the lives of common people.
Earlier, the surroundings of the state Assembly witnessed a tense situation for a while, when all the TPCC leaders proceeded to stage a dharna before the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the state Assembly. However, large number of police
personnel deployed before the main gate of the Assembly foiled the attempt of the Congress leaders to barge into the premises. As a result, the opposition leaders staged a dharna outside the Assembly compound.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the state government is not conducting the Assembly and Council sessions as it is afraid to face the opposition parties.
Demanding the state government to convene the Assembly session immediately, Jana Reddy expressed severe displeasure to the Assembly secretary S Raja Sadaram for not allowing the Congress MLAs to enter the premises.
