A delegation of Congress leaders led by Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) president Sameer Waliullah visited Bibi Ka Alawa in Dabirpura in the Old City and presented the traditional 'dhatti' and 'nazrana' on behalf of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

The delegation included TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, general secretary Zaheer Lalalni, Hyderabad minorities dept chairman Arshad Shaik, HCC general secretary Mujtabad Abedi, Charminar constituency In-charge Mujeebullah Shareef, Osman Mohammed Khan, Youth Congress leader Aslam Shareef, Mirza Askari Ali Baig, Ali, Dilawar Hussain and others.

Speaking to media persons, Waliullah condemned the BRS government for the delay in releasing funds to the ashoorkhanas and making other arrangements for the 'Moharram juloos'. He said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had been neglecting the

Old City and the minorities and trying to disrupt their religious events by not releasing funds.

He said that the observance of Moharram is as old as Hyderabad. Besides the Central procession from Bibi Ka Alawa, in Hyderabad, processions are taken out in various parts of the city, attracting both Shia and non-Shia Muslims and sometimes people from other religious backgrounds as well.

He pointed out that the CM visited Bibi Ka Alam only once in his two terms. He made several promises at that time but did not fulfil any of them. He demanded that elaborate arrangements be made for the Yaum-e-Ashura and procession on 10th of Moharram falling on July 29. He said that it was the duty of all citizens to respect, protect, and practice the centuries-old tradition which provided a distinct identity to Hyderabad.
