Senior Congress leader and sitting MLA from Palair Constituency in Khammam district Ramreddy Venkat Reddy today breathed his last in KIMS Hospital at Secunderabad due to respiratory problems. He was 72. He leaves behind his wife and four daughters.

Ramreddy Venkat Reddy served as Minister in YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinets. He was the native of Pathalingala village under Kamepalli mandal of Khammam district. He entered politics in 1967 and served as sarpanch till 1977.

Venkat Reddy was diagnosed with lung cancer 15 days ago. He assumed charge as PAC Chairman after the death of Congress MLA from Narayankhed Kista Reddy. Ironically, both the leaders died after assuming charge as PAC Chairman within 10 months.

            Ramreddy Venkat Reddy was elected as an MLA for four terms. He represented Sujata Nagar Constituency of Khammam district before it was de-merged during 2009 Assembly elections. He contested and won from Paleru in 2009 elections. He defeated Tammineni Veerabhadram of CPM (Mahakutami candidate) in those elections. Kolisetti Nageswara Rao and Inguva Rama Krishna contested in 2009 elections on Lok Satta and BJP tickets respectively.
