Congress moves HC against Election Commission

The Congress leaders who lost the recent Assembly elections queued up at the High Court on Thursday to file petitions. All election-related petitions have to be filed within 45 days from the counting date.

The Congress leaders, including, Ms DK Aruna, Ms N. Padmavati, Mr Dasoju Sravan, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Mr A. Chandrasekhar, Mr Addanki Dayakar, Mr B. Pavan Kumar, Mr Katha Srinivas Goud and Mr Feroz Khan filed the petitions, saying that the winners had violated the elections rules.

The Congress leaders have filed petitions mentioning that the TRS candidates had violated the election rules and some of them filed that there were several flaws in the



counting and that it was evident from the differences between the total number of votes polled and the total number of votes counted.

Speaking to media persons, Congress leader Dasoju Sravan said, “The TRS MLAs have won the election by colluding with the Election Commission and have also indulged in some wrong practices. There is clear violation of the model code of conduct election code in many constituencies. We have decided to fight legally. We trust the court for justice. We have requested the court to disqualify those MLAs who have violated the code of conduct and to verify the difference in the total numbers of votes polled and counted.”
