TPCC president A Revanth Reddy said that no ruling party had survived the farmers’ wrath and had lost power for neglecting their welfare. Citing the example of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, he said when the Telugu Desam party government neglected farmers in the united Andhra Pradesh, it lost power and farmers voted in favour of Congress.
Addressing party workers at Vari Deeksha, Dharna Chowk, he said when many farmers were on the verge of facing economic crisis due to non-procurement of paddy, BJP leaders were focusing on politics and poaching leaders from other political parties. He predicted that farmers would reject TRS and BJP to bring Congress back to power both at Centre and in the State.
Congress party State unit’s two-day Vari Deeksha
protest concluded here on Sunday. The party leaders have decided to stage protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi between December 9 and 13 in support of farmers’ issues, including paddy procurement.
Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said positions were not important in the State unit as all the leaders were Pradesh Congress Committee presidents. “Congress is in my blood. Yes, there were some mistakes in allocation of tickets last time but this time no such mistakes will be made,” said Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
He said the Congress will stage protest at Jantar Mantar with over 1000 members. Party senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will be invited for the protest, he added.
