The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Wednesday decided to allot 50 per cent of the seats to Backward Classes in the coming GHMC elections.
A decision in this regard was taken at the core committee meeting chaired by AICC Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore and TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan here.
Giving details of the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy said besides focusing on GHMC elections, the party also decided to move the High Court regarding BC reservations. “We will take up a fight for BCs in the GHMC area legally and also politically,” he said. The Core committee also decided to organise a dharna at Indira Park protesting against the spurt in attacks on women and dalits in the State.
On November 12, there will be protests against the problems faced by the farmers in the
State in every district headquarter.
“Congress will launch an agitation programme demanding Rs 2,500 per quintal of fine variety of paddy. It was also decided to constitute a permanent committee to work on farmers problems,” he said.
Later, Tagore thanked all the party workers for their hard work in the Dubbak elections. “We have constituted several committees on different issues. I want everyone to complete the work within the stipulated time,” he said.
Senior leaders NS Bose Raju, Srinivasan Krishnan, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, K Jana Reddy, V Hanumanth Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Madhu Yashki Goud, G Chinna Reddy, S A Sampath Kumar, C Vamshichand Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka and Jetti Kusum Kumar attended the meeting.
